My Interpretation of the brief
My aim for this project is to produce/ create a media product that could either be an audio and/or visual and/or interactive media production based on the theme ‘Welcome to the Forest’: Radicals, Makers, Fellowship. With Waltham Forest being designated the first ever London Borough of Culture, 2019.
  • What does the borough of culture mean to me?
The borough of culture means to me when people from different backgrounds come together to be one community. They bring their own cultural influences with them that merge with others to become a community linked together by their differences. The borough to me means the geographical context of the area and all its inhabitants. I don’t see it as a borough but one big family of cultural diversity.

  • What do the words ‘Welcome to the forest’, radicals, makers and fellowship mean to me?
Welcome to the forest - in a sense, it’s like welcome to the unknown in that there are so many different cultures here that you don’t know what to expect. The word “welcome” has connotations of friendliness and saying hello, it’s a greeting. The word “forest” suggests wildness, unknown, darkness, nature and greenery to me.
Radicals - radical to me means being different, thinking outside the box, people or things that take risks and try new things and stick by their own ideas and beliefs. The word radical has connotations of conflict, difference, uniqueness, new and fresh.
Makers - the word makers to me means people who create new things and making a difference to the world around them.
Fellowship - to me the word fellowship means coming together, sharing things with each other and being a community. The word “fellowship” has connotations of warmth, togetherness and being linked by thoughts and feelings.
  • What ideas for creative projects have come into my head?
Idea 1
A magazine cover to represent the unknownness of the forest by representing nature mix with natural human beauty, wildness mix with wildlife and represent peace using the surrounding of the nature that the forest itself offer.
Idea 2
A promotional video for a  fashion magazine company based of the theme on radicals,models wearing clothes that they feel is unique. Video to be shown upside down to enhance the theme.
Idea 3
Makers is the theme to represent that makers create new things, i intend to produce a image to go alongside  an article about makers, the image is going to a model held up by string and having scissors, paint brushes fabrics etc in their hand to look like their being ‘made’ by a maker.
